There isn't a single number that qualifies as "good" — CRS cutoff scores shift with every draw and depend heavily on draw type. General draws (open to the whole pool) have historically required higher scores than category-based draws targeting specific groups, like French-language proficiency, healthcare occupations, skilled trades, STEM, agriculture, or transport occupations, which often have meaningfully lower cutoffs for candidates who qualify.

Rather than chasing a specific target number, it's more useful to understand what moves your score. Language ability tends to be the highest-leverage factor most applicants underuse, because it feeds into both your core points and "skill transferability" combination points — a jump of even one CLB level across all four abilities can add more points than an additional year of work experience. A provincial nomination is the other major lever, adding enough fixed points that it functionally guarantees an invitation in the next eligible round.
